In this episode of DEEP TROUBLE, Adventure Rider Radio Podcast host, Jim Martin, interviews James McCormick who went on what he calls, a ‘leap of faith ride’ in Baja, somewhere he had ridden many times before. This time he and his friend chose to explore a more remote area and everything seemed to be going smoothly until they were well past halfway into the ride, when suddenly the road they had counted on following was gone and all that remained was sand, rocks, cactus, and brush. Facing a critical decision, they decided to push on and by nightfall they found themselves stranded in the desert without enough fuel to either continue or turn back, and even worse, they ran out of water.

James McCormick is a personal injury attorney and avid motorcyclist.  Since 2004 James has worked with and served the motorcycle community by helping injured riders get back on their feet and their bikes.  James is a partner at Evergreen Personal Injury Counsel in Tacoma, Washington.  He operates Evergreen Motorcycle Attorneys a division of EPIC dedicated to serving injured riders.  James and his firm work all over the State of Washington.

James has been riding motorcycles his entire life.  He started riding dirt bikes as a child on his family’s apple orchard outside Yakima, Washington.  James is a active rider in adventure, dual-sport and dirt.  He has completed rides such as the Continental Divide navigating North American from Canada to Mexico on dirt roads.  He’s completed the Washington BDR multiple times and explored thousands of miles of backcountry roads and trails in the Cascades.  James has explored every corner of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico on a dirt bike.  In 2023 James ventured in to Rally Racing and competed in the NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally.  He raced over 1200 miles from Ensenda to Cabo on a KTM 500 Rally.  James has raced numerous enduros, poker runs and off road grand prix’s.

James believes is supporting the riding community.  He is a member of the Northwest Motorcycle Association and a supporter of Backcountry Discovery Routes.  With EMA, James sponsors and supports numerous local motorcycle clubs and their events such as poker runs and local races ranging from the Stump Jumpers D100, Tacoma Trail Cruisers Smuggler Poker Run and the Yakima Dirt Dodgers Rimrock Grand Prix.  James also supports and participates in events such as the Giant Loop Rally, Touratech Rally and Pacific Northwest Dual Sport events.

When not in the office, you’ll find James out riding local trails.  James is currtenly teaching his kids to ride on a fleet of Honda XR dirt bikes.
